ABSTRACT
This study investigates the complex relationship between Flexible Work Practices
(FWPs) and trust in management, examining their impact on negative outcomes such
as job insecurity, work-life imbalance, and reduce career prospect. The study has two
main goals: first, to investigate the association between specific FWPs, such as leave
and schedule flexibility, and negative outcomes, and second, to explore the
relationship between Trust in Management and these negative outcomes.
The foundation of this study is based on matched employer-employee data obtained
through a large survey from the 2011 Workplace Employment Relations Study
(WERS, 2014) in the United Kingdom. The acquired data was analyzed using
descriptive statistics as well as Ordinary Least Squares regression.
Among the research hypotheses posited, a substantial portion found support in the
empirical analysis. Specifically, hypotheses H1A, H1C, H2A, H3A, and H3B were
empirically validated. Conversely, four hypotheses did not gain support. This
divergence in results underscores the complex nature of the relationship between
FWPs, trust in management, and negative outcomes.
Keywords: Flexible Work Practice, Trust In Management, Work Employment
Relations Survey.
