N2  - 'Abstract  This thesis focuses on the translation of the most common 53 types of poetry. In this study, the most common 53 types of poetry are explained and the existing methods of translating poetry are explored. The deficiencies of these existing poetry translation methods are emphasised and it is claimed that these kind of translations do not belong to the poets but the translators. This study supports that a translated poem should keep both the meaning of the poem and the style of the poet. Therefore, the new poetry translation method is created for keeping both the meaning of the poem and the style of the poet. This new poetry translation method, which is called as Coexist translation, will keep not only the meaning but also the form entegrity in translation. Coexist translation method has some elements. They are "addition", "omission", "permutation", "repetition" and "substitution". This study involves the explanations and examples of these elements. This study also involves the applications of the new poetry translation method into the most common 53 types of poetry and one or several poems of each type are translated into Turkish with this method. In conclusion, both the meaning of the poem and the style of the poet are transferred to the target poem with the Coexist translation method successfully. Key Words: Poetry; Translation; Method; Meaning; Style.   Özet  Bu tez çalışması, en çok bilinen ve kullanılan 53 şiir türünün çevirisi üzerine odaklanmıştır. Bu çalışmada 53 şiir türü açıklanmış, daha sonra da var olan şiir çeviri yöntemleri incelenmiĢtir. Bu yöntemlerle çevrilen şiirlerin eksiklikleri üzerinde durulmuştur ve böyle çevirilerin şaire değil de çevirmene ait olduğu savunulmuştur. Bu çalışma, şiir çevirisinin hem anlamı hem de yapıyı koruyarak yapılması gerektiğini savunmuştur. Buna göre, hem yapının hem de anlamın korunmasını sağlamak amacıyla yeni bir şiir çeviri yöntemi yaratılmıştır. Coexist Çeviri metodu diye adlandırılan bu yöntem, çeviride anlam ve yapı bütünlüğünü sağlayamayı hedeflemiştir. Coexist çeviri methodu bazı kavramları da içermektedir. Bunlar "ekleme", "eksiltme", "yer değiştirme", "tekrar etme" ve "yerine koyma" kavramlarıdır. Bu çalışma, bu kavramların açıklanması ve örneklendirilmesini de içermektedir. Bu çalışmada, bu yeni şiir çeviri yöntemi en çok kullanılan 53 şiir türünün üzerinde uygulanmıştır ve bu 53 şiir türünden bir veya birkaç şiir bu yöntem kullanılarak Türkçeye çevrilmiştir.
