'ABSTRACT Entrepreneurship has long been recognized as the instrument for structural transformation, job creation and for stability of the world economy, there by producing efficient result and growth in an economy. The relevance of the students and young people in any economy cannot be underestimated, they are said to be the hope and the future entrepreneurs of any nation. However, a clear understanding of the perspectives of students and young ones towards new venture creation and the factors influencing their career decision is the first step in awaking their entrepreneurial spirit and the vital role university Institutions have to play in creating an environment that sensitize and motivates entrepreneurial activities. This empirical research seek to understand the perspectives of students and graduates about the concept of entrepreneurship, the various factors that forms the students' perspectives, also the impact of the university institution in preparing the mindset of the young ones and cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit of the students. Methodologically, this research draws an extensive fieldwork with 782 sampling of both final year undergraduate and postgraduate students of the 5 major universities in TRNC. We examine the impact of gender and field of study (business and non-business) on entrepreneurial perspectives, risk propensity and the effectiveness of familiarity, family entrepreneur and entrepreneurship role model on student's perspectives. Most importantly we investigate the impact of the entrepreneurial factors such as; survivability/ risk tolerance, capital, university education and entrepreneurship familiarity on the student's perspectives, and the role of the university institutions in awaking the entrepreneurial spirit of the students. This type of study will also help universities and other higher education institutions develop suitable educational programs to promote entrepreneurship and thereby producing a healthy economy and independent individuals.
