N2  - 'Abstract  This study is about to define the effects of colour on the early learners in educational spaces. In this context, the main purposes of this analytical study are to research the psychological effects of colour usage in learning spaces, which are designed for 5-8 years olds, to identify the colour preferences of places where children spend their time for activities, and to give recommendation of preferable colour usage for early learning environments. Methodologically, the research design is a case study which involves qualitative and quantitative research techniques. These qualitative and quantitative research techniques involve observations, questionnaires, and face-to-face interviews which were used throughout research process. Although the main concern is investigating the colour usage, this study also focuses on lighting and finishing materials. Specifically. Early learner students' colour choices were searched through questionnaires which cover visual media in relation to their own early learning environments. During the process of data collecting, Levent Primary School has been visited and questionnaires were distributed to 50 students in order to determine their colour preferences. Related literature including dissertations, articles, books and videos are reviewed. Concludingly, in the context of emotional, visual and psychological implications obtained from this research, a series of recommendations are done. Consequently, it is strongly recommended that student's colour preferences should be considered in designing educational environments in terms of selecting appropriate colour for building elements, building materials and furniture.  Key Words: Colour, Educational Space, Lighting, Interior Design, Early Learners  Özet  Bu analitik çalışmanın temel amacı erken öğrenme çağındaki çocuklardan 5-8 yaş grubundaki öğrenciler için tasarlanmış eğitim mekanlarında renk kullanımının bu öğrenciler üzerindeki psikolojik etkisini araştırmak ve zaman geçirdikleri mekanlara ilişkin renk tercihlerini belirlemek ve böylelikle erken öğretim mekanları için daha uygun renk kullanımı önerileri sunmaktır.  Araştırma Yöntemi, niceliksel ve niteliksel teknikler içeren bir durum çalışmasıdır. Bu araştırmada gözlem, anket, yüz yüze görüşme ve görsel malzeme üzerine tercih belirtme gibi niteliksel ve niceliksel teknikler kullanılmıştır. Renk kullanımının yanısıra, aydınlatma ve malzeme unsurlarına da odaklanılan bu çalışmada ilk öğrenim yılları eğitim mekanlarını kullanan öğrencilerin kullandıkları eğitim mekanlarına ilişkin renk tercihleri çoğunlukla görsel anlatımlar içeren anket soruları doğrultusunda araştırılmıştır.  Veri toplama sürecinde söz konusu Levent İlokuluna gidilmiş, öğrencilerin renk üzerine tercihlerini belirlemek amacıyla önceden hazırlanan anketler elli (50) öğrenciye dağıtılmıştır. Ayrıca çalışmada, konu ile ilgili daha once yazılmış olan tez, makale, kitaplar ve videolar ile ilişkin literatürlerden yararlanılmıştır.  Yapılan araştırma sonunda öğrencilerin renk kullanımı bağlamında duygusal, görsel ve psikolojik anlamda tercih ettikleri renklerin okulöncesi mekanları tasarlarken bina elemanları, malzemeler ve mobilya seçimlerinde kullanımına ilişkin ilkesel öneriler verilmiştir.
