As a reaction to external and internal pressure, the Zimbabwean government restuctured its foreign policy aimed on intensifying mutual relations with East- Asian countries such as Malaysia,China,Singapore,Korea, and India as a replacement of the support from the Western Nations. China came into picture and took the center stage as one of the biggest investors in Zimbabwe as compared to other countries. China has since shown a stimulated attention towards Zimbabwe and there are contradicting stances on whether the Chinese ever-increasing connection with Zimbabwe is beneficial to the government of Zimbabwe and the citizens. The study aims at analysing and understanding the feasibility of the 'Look East Policy' taking a closer look at the from of China's economic, commercial, political, and social interaction with Zimbabwe . The study takes a comprehensive look at relations between Zimbabwe and China, exploring how the relationship has transformed over time, in an attempt to give conclusions and predict the possible outlook. The researcher's main argument is that although China is gaining from Zimbabwe's resources, there is an interdependence relationship between the two countries as Zimbabwe also benefits from Chinas aid. It is wrong to suggest that China is a repeat of past imperialism, but there is an interdependence aspect between the two countries. 'The Look East Policy' is beneficial to both Zimbabwe and China. As China invests in Zimbabwe, in turn Zimbabwe, in turn Zimbabwe benefits from China's aid. Keywords: Look East Policy, Zimbabwe, China foreign policy, economic development.' ER -
