N2  - 'ABSTRACT Despite of privacy and security threats encountered on Facebook by its users frequently, a lot of researches have shown that users still share a lot of personal data. This research has shown that students share a lot of personal information which includes address, contact, relationship status and partner's name, and they share this data without minding who view it or get access to it. Protecting of personal data has turned into a serious issue among Facebook services providers and users due to the dangers that keep coming up. These dangers include the abuse of personal data by unwanted person which may prompt to unlawful acts such as fraud, and so many other risks. This research work was done using 300 engineering students who are active Facebook users. The data used for this research was gathered from the questionnaires administered. The dependent variable was Facebook usage, while information sharing, privacy settings awareness, Facebook security awareness and information protection strategies awareness were the independent variables. The empirical findings showed that there is a strong relationship between the dependent variable (Facebook Usage) and the four above listed independent variables in this research. The examination on the type of information shared on Facebook by students is the aim of this research. To measure the level of privacy settings awareness, the security awareness measure the security awareness as well as the protection strategies awareness while sharing of information on Facebook.
