'ABSTRACT The fruition, development and expansion of multifarious technologies has cut down the use of many traditional ways of carrying out day to day businesses. Business structures and governmental bodies are now exploring, using and seeking for time saving, cost efficient and systematic ways to carry out their routine activities. E-voting is one of the technologies born in this dispensation of technological proliferation. Many developed countries has welcomed and integrated the use of e-voting for their electoral processes as the e-voting system has the ability to ensure credibility and reliability of electoral outcomes. The e-voting system is constructively simple, accessible and can be easily used by all and sundry. Electronic voting can be done in several ways one of which includes voting through the internet (Internet voting from PC, kiosk internet voting, poll site internet voting). However, Nigeria is still a developing country and is surrounded with varies of social, security, technological and structural constraints which may deter the successful ride of the types of e-voting mentioned above. Hence, with the present situation and dispensation of Nigeria, the use of Electronic Voting Machine seem to be the most appropriate solution to the electoral crisis and manoeuvres present in Nigeria. The Electronic Voting Machine has two major units (display unit and control unit) which can easily be accessed and used by electorates. The addition of the display unit makes it possible for the party representatives and voters to physically see the numbers of votes polled by their candidates within a short period after the elections have been held. This thesis carefully evaluates the various electoral quandary present in Nigeria and makes suggestions on how these problems can be solved using EVM. From various studies made, it is glaring that usability and reliability are two distinct parameters that plays a vital role towards the successful adoption of e-voting in any electoral system. These parameters were carefully analysed as they form the pivotal bases at which suggestions are made in this thesis. '
