These negatives effects are reflect on projects parties (Contractor, Consultant. And Client), aspects of life and society as whole, which calls for the need to study this phenomenon by identifying the main causes of delays in completing construction projects in order to minimize. For this reason, this study aimed to identify the most important causes of delays in construction projects in Somalia and its causes. The research methodology relied on the use of the quantitative method, where the questionnaire was adopted as a tool for collecting quantitative data. The questionnaire contained 13 possible causes of delays, and 11 possible effects of delay, and the questionnaire was distributed to a number of senior officials and employees of the two largest construction companies in Somalia. Descriptive analysis adopted: Mean standard deviation and alpha cronbach to analyze the questionnaire data. As a results, the study showed that: Project management problem, change in orders/ variations, lack of fund to finance the project to the completion, fluctuation in price of building materials, and equipment availability or failure are the main causes of delays in construction projects in Somalia. Also, results shows that: Time overrun, Cost overrun, Arbitration (taking legal actions), reduced profit, and disputes between the parties involved, are main effects of delays in construction projects in Somalia.
