'ABSTRACT This research work is a study on the rise of insurgency in Africa as whole, focusing on the conflict and insurgent movement in Central African Republic (CAR). It captures how the event started from a normal conflict which later turned to an insurgent movement. The conflict started as a result of marginalisation of a minority group which is from the Muslim population by the majority Christian population who happens to be in control of the country's political authority. The recent conflict started in the year 2012 which was caused by a rebellion formed by a Seleka coalition and perpetuated by the Christian Anti Balaka insurgents. It captures the factors, impacts, and the historical background of the insurgency events in some of the African countries and majorly the Central African Republic. The major factor in the conflict is the struggle for politics and to gain control of the resources and major towns in CAR. It also captures the humanitarian efforts in assisting the transitional government to tackle human rights abuses and punish war lords. Keywords: Insurgency; Central African Republic; Conflict and Politics'
