Thesis (MSc) - Cyprus International University. Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Civil Engineering
The construction industry is changing thanks to the emergence of printing technology. This thesis will thoroughly compare construction methods with printers in construction work. Our study will explore cost, speed, quality, design flexibility and sustainability. When it comes to costs, our analysis examines how both methods impact finances. Although 3D printer technology requires an investment, it reduces labor and material costs while minimizing waste. Regarding speed and efficiency, 3D printing shines by reducing construction and assembly times. The precision of this technology is unmatched, guaranteeing measurements and intricate surface finishes that traditional methods often struggle to achieve.
This study examines real-life examples and how both methods are used in situations. The "Office of the Future" demonstrates the speed and complexity achieved through printing, while a traditional construction project highlights established techniques. These findings emphasize the possibilities of 3D printing in the construction industry, offering an approach that revolutionizes efficiency, accuracy, and environmental sustainability.
