Konu(lar): Özet: 'ABSTRACT The research is focusing about the change of electricity consumption amounts after installing solar photovoltaic system, The idea behind the research is to find, if the installation of solar photovoltaic system has an impact on the residences in either increasing or decreasing their consumption amounts prior to installation. The motivation behind this idea was to gather information about the consumption changes and discuss about the impacts of these changes onto residences and government of TRNC or relevant electricity distributor. Since 2014 there are more than 1000 applications to the Renewable Energy Committee about making an investment in solar photovoltaic energy systems. More than 800 residences have access to net metering. As the day passes, these kind of applications and investments only increase. Considering most of the applications (on-grid solar photovoltaic systems) is depending on the electricity grid which is supplied by Turkish Cypriot Electricity Board (KIB-TEK), the impact on overall change will eventually affect the the main electricity supplier one way or another. After gathering required information on residential systems, from KIB-TEK and relevant solar PV companies, compiling all the data, finding the changes in true consumption by residences and analysing this data by creating tables and charts, it can be seen that there is almost 50% of increase in total energy consumption. If these changes continue on this scale and with the increase in demand in renewable energy technologies such as solar photovoltaic systems in TRNC, the methods for precautions must be found to both prevent harmful outcomes and continue to encourage the people who want to invest in the renewable energy sector. Keywords: Solar PV Systems, TRNC, Consumption Changes'
