Konu(lar): Özet: 'ABSTRACT A few numbers of technological developments in human history has affected human life as the ever-evolving information and communication technologies (ICT), in other words, all methods for information processing and transmission. New ICT, create new communication environments to share information boldly, interact with people and disclose personal information. The widespread use of new communication environments as a new communication platform in interpersonal communication process and for self-disclosure brought up the discussions about the usage and effects of these new environments including SNSs in interpersonal communication and for self-disclosure. This thesis mainly aims to determine university student's level of interaction and self-disclosure through SNSs and to explore their views regarding the importance and effects of SNSs on interpersonal communication. Furthermore, to determine whether demographics and frequency of SNSs usage are variables that cause a statistical significant difference in university student's level of interaction, self-disclosure behaviours and preferences on SNS are among the main concerns of this thesis. The relationships between mentioned variables were studied by correlational method in descriptive manner. Research sample includes 377 respondents who were undergraduate students of Cyprus International University (CIU) undergoing studies in the different faculties and who are social media and SNSs users. Research results reveal once again the high level of interaction and self-disclosure through SNSs among university students. It has been also determined that, gender and nationality are not variables that cause an effect on level of interaction, self-disclosure behaviours and preferences of university students while frequency of SNSs usage is a variable that positively related to level of interaction through SNSs. In addition, findings revealed that as the level of interaction through SNSs increases, self-disclosure on SNSs increases and this positive and parallel relationship is statistically significant. Keywords: SNSs, Interpersonal Communication, Self-disclosure, Computer Mediated Communication, ICT.'
