Konu(lar): Özet: ' ABSTRACT The prime objective of this research is to evaluate and analysis of the pragmatic measures the United Nations is using to promote gender equality in Nigeria and review the progressive reflections or impacts on the Global Gender Gap Index reports. The UN WOMEN and UNDP are the two United Nations' (UN) organs designed and mandated to close gender gap and achieve women's rights in Nigeria. Gender equality, women's rights (which are inalienable human right), social justice and egalitarianism (equality) as outlined and mandated in the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the underlining concepts explored in this research. Ultimately, SDG number 5, which is the benchmark to achieve Gender Equality before 2030 remains the roadmap of the UN gender equality strategies in Nigeria. The Global Gender Gap Index (GGGI) was used as a standard to evaluate the achievements of the UN from 2006 - 2015 in implementing gender equality mandates and goals in Nigeria. Subject to the obtained result, Nigeria did not come close to the average in the cumulative period of 2006 - 2015 in the overall Index, Health, Education, Politics and Economy. There was a deflection to the negative scale in the area of Education and Health which is a seeming indicator of the on-going insurgence, past Ebola epidemic and other crisis. A shift from a zero position to the positive scale was an indicator of action and engagements. Keywords: Gender Equality, Nigeria, United Nations, Sustainable Development Goals and Global Gender Gap Index. '
