520			_aABSTRACT Climate change is unarguably one of the world's most threatening dangers. Authors and commentators like (Dessler, 2020, Kerry, 2019, & Sosa-Nunez & Atkins, 2016) consider it to be an existential crisis. Its impact is global (i.e. transcends borders), and developing countries like Sierra Leone suffers the most from these impacts. As a developing nation, Sierra Leone cannot manage the impacts of environmental catastrophe and climate disasters. For that reason, both internal and external organizations, including non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, intergovernmental organizations, and international organizations support the country in its effort to minimize the impacts of this global crisis. The most prominent international organization that supports states in the governance to lessen the impacts of this global catastrophe is the United Nations (UN). Through its subsidiary agencies, the United Nations partners with states through diverse means, making sure that necessary steps are taken to prevent and protect populations from the dangers of climate change. Through international organizations, states have made tremendous strides. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is one of those influential organizations in Sierra Leone in the fight against climate change. However these efforts are insufficient to completely tackle to effects of climate change on vulnerable populations. This study argues that the solution to eradicate the dangers of climate lies not in meager support provided by subsidiary agencies, rather it will take the efforts of all states through these organization to implement stern policies that will cut emissions and other activities that continue to put the world in danger of a climate crisis. This study recommends that additional research is required to help researchers and stakeholders make objective analysis on the role of International organizations in difficult circumstances like climate change. Also, the government must collaborate with lead environmental agencies to review and update existing laws, regulations and mechanisms meant for the protection of the Sierra Leone environment. And finally, that a move is made to distinguish the roles and responsibilities of environmental organizations in the country.
