520 _aABSTRACT The purpose of the study is to analyze credit risk management and its impact on loan default: a case study of selected banks in Somalia. The study employed Quasi-experimental research design. A total of 295 employees from selected Somali banks were considered for the study with 246 questionnaires recovered and valid for the study analysis. The survey questionnaire used for the study comprises of close ended questions and comprise of four sections. SPSS statistical application version 25 was used to analyze data for the study. The revealed that supervision of compliance with credit terms and conditions by the borrowers is the most commonly used risk detection technique employed by the banks. While Proper authorization and approval is the most commonly used credit prevention technique employed by the banks for credit risk management. However, credit risk detection technique and credit risk prevention techniques adopted by the bank have positive and statistically significant impact on rate of loan default among the bank customers.
