In addition to having social and economic consequences, poverty has other consequences. Having insufficient means to meet one's basic needs may also be characterized as being impoverished. Consider the necessities of life such as food, safe drinking water, housing, and clothes” (Victoria, 2018). Microfinance institutions (MI) provide microloans to lenders in exchange for various types of benefits in order for them to make use of the loans. The borrowed funds and loans can be used for different purposes depending on the need and intention of the borrower. These needs can be financing a new business or an expansion plan, paying for urgent family needs, facilitating mobility to obtain a job, etc. This study was aimed at exploring the impact of microfinance on selected poverty measures. A quantitative approach was taken in the study. A total of 385 individuals participated in the study, a random sampling approach was used to determine the sample size. Primary data in the form of a questionnaire was distributed to participants. The findings of the study showed that a relationship between Microfinance and fulfilment of basic needs was observed. Furthermore, a relationship between Microfinance and Living standard was seen. Finally, a relationship between Microfinance and self-employment was indicated in this study. This model was statistically significant, all three-variable added statistically significant. Microfinance predicted basic needs the most. Thus, it is important for microfinance to provide good policies in other to help individuals meet their needs. It is recommended that microfinance institution provide initiative for individuals who are in need. This initiative will help empower individuals by making them self-empowered.
