500 _aABSTRACT Typography is the discipline of both graphic context and the communication design that makes ubiquitous and familiar results. However, we are all surrounded by many typographic matter in our daily lives that makes typography an essential as a medium that pervades every aspect of everyone life. Yet it is very substantial and essential for every designer to know the difference between each typographic elements and their important roles in graphic designing. As well knowing the difference between each typography typeface that can reflects both a good and bad result if it was not used well by designers in their work. Same goes for posters designs where posters are the visual language that has different and many meaning behind each poster whatever it was a normal or an abstract poster. As it may be use for different purposes to show something for the audience whether it was an idea, event or a product. Moreover, back to the movement of Art Deco, poster designs were an important used media created by different famous designers and artists. This study examines at first the history of typography from the begging of alphabets till the inventions of machines and printing evolutions and finally until the digital age that changed the typography. Although this study will examine and define the basics of typography as well the typefaces and its classifications. A qualitative method will be made in this study to conduct after the result of what were the typefaces used in the posters of the Art Deco movement.
