520 _aABSTRACT Adequate urban planning and monitoring can be a powerful tool that can be used in improving global health and reduce the burden of infectious diseases, in this regard, public transport has a significant impact on environmental health and citizens. Cities, despite increasing population growth, widening the extent of environmental degradation and pollution, insufficient services and infrastructure, dilapidated urban fabric, informal housing, etc., which provides a wide range of factors threatening human health and the quality of life of citizens in cities around the developing world. On the other hand, the lack of a global definition of health, makes it difficult to compare different countries and cities in terms of public health and the impact of infectious diseases on citizens' health. Health has been considered a new approach in the urban development planning literature, to improve the citizens' quality of life. In this thesis, to assess the health status in the urban planning approach, an attempt has been made to examine its effects on improving the health of the citizen by examining global records and experiences according to the recent pandemic and considering local conditions in urban transportation. The Northern Cyprus Island is a common point between Europe and Asia and it is considered as part of the developing countries, which has a large number of immigrants each year due to its numerous universities, health control based on urban planning. Whereby, the public transport in Famagusta city of the Northern Cyprus will invested. Therefore, by combining qualitative and quantitative methods, studies have been done in this thesis. At first, the history of diseases in the world has been considered by the literature review, and then by the same method, the use of land and its role in the health of society has been studied. Since the two variables (land use and citizen health) have reciprocal effects, the correlation method has been used in this section, by examining public transport, how the recent pandemic spread and its effects on land use have been extracted.
