520			_aABSTRACT This research is aimed at examining how government policies and technology affects small firms’ productivity. It appears that considering the huge potentials of the firms despite the acknowledgement of their immense contributions to sustainable economic development, their performance still falls below expectation in some developing countries. There are two main variables for this research, government policy on small firms and technology on small firms. The research adopts a descriptive survey design, the targeted population of the research was line manager, managers and owners of small firms in South-western part of Nigeria with a sample of 500 respondents. A questionnaire was used as an instrument to determine the effect of government policy and technology on small firms’ productivity in Nigeria. Data was analyzed using frequency distribution. A linear regression model was used to determine the significance of government policies and technology on small firms’ productivity indicating relationship between government policies and small firms’ productivity. It was however concluded that both government policies and technology account for a significant variation on small firms’ productivity. The research is based on the need for the economy of developing countries like Nigeria to explore opportunities for sustainable economic growth and its benefit, by improving work efficiency and productivity through adoption of technological tools, maximize profit and opportunity through government policies and regulations.
