520 | _aABSTRACT Conflict has been identified as an inevitable element of human existence, organizational conflict inclusive. Conflict management thus becomes a panacea to curbing the negative effects of conflict, especially in a sensitive place like the banking sector. This study examined the effect of conflict management styles on organizational commitment among Cameroonian bank employees. The study aimed to find out the conflict management styles that can enhance organizational commitment. Participants in the study were bank employees drawn from 10 different banks in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. After the analysis, the outcome of the study revealed the following: accommodating, cooperative and compromise styles of conflict management all have significant positive effects on organizational commitment (OC). However, there is no significant effect between forcing and avoiding styles on OC. Following these findings, it was, among others, recommended that it is important for management and stakeholders in banks in Cameroon to ensure that different conflict management styles are communicated to every employee in their organization through training and retraining. Suggestions for further studies were also made. Keywords: Bank, Cameroon, Conflict, Conflict Management Styles, Organizational Commitment. | ||
