520 _aABSTRACT The issue of Political instability, insurgencies and terroristic attacks in West Africa is not a novelty in the world political landscape and a lot of effort has been made to mitigate it. Here I am assessing the Sierra Leone Liberia diplomatic friendship in strengthening regional security as Ecowas member states. Ecowas has been a very strong pillar in addressing instabilities through regional integration and inclusion which fosters peace and stability. Regional security is of great importance and has been a global concern, diplomatic friendship or relationship is a way to enhance peace amongst nations. Post war Sierra Leone and Liberia have a very outstanding relationship since the Koroma and Johnson regime and have continued till date. The breakdown of diplomatic ties between Sierra Leone and Liberia will certainly lead to unfavourable upheavals which include but not limited to increased tensions, a breakdown in communication and collaboration, military activities, economic shock and decline and this at the end of it all will result to civil crisis. Ecowas has been charged with the responsibility for monitoring and keeping the peace in west Africa, especially in Sierra Leone and Liberia which has suffered from exploitation of resources, external aggression and smuggling of drugs, but were governed by democratically elected presidents.
