520 _aABSTRACT The effects of risk management on the completion rate of delivering transport construction projects in Libya have been investigated and presented following an extensive data collection and analysis. The purpose of the research is to get a deeper comprehension of different potential risk variables that have been categorized into seven different categories. In addition to this, the study intends to investigate the efficacy of various preventatives through seven categories and mitigating with six measures. In addition, it is necessary to investigate the implementation of risk assessment strategies in transport construction projects throughout the State of Libya. In order to accomplish the goals of the research, a closed-ended questionnaire was employed as the data collection method. The experts involved in the transportation infrastructure projects, such as consultants, owners, contractors, site/office engineers, and sub-contractors, each received one of the eighty-five questionnaires that were handed out. Microsoft Excel package was utilized in the process of data analysis. According to the comments of the participants, the five most significant risk factors are as follows: political instability, corruption and bribery, inflation and unexpected rises in the cost of materials and equipment, an absence of financial resources, and late fees to the contractor. These key risk concerns are mostly connected to groups in the financial, political, and governmental sectors, and the legal sector, respectively. According to the findings of the survey, the majority of owners and contractors suffer from a lack of information regarding the methods in which risks can be mitigated and prevented. Estimations of both time and cost almost always rely on the subjective judgment gained through experience. According to the findings and recommendations of the study, additional action is required to eliminate the issues that are caused by badly managed transportation infrastructure projects. Therefore, owners and contractors should take responsibility for managing their various variables and begin working to resolve possible issues as early in the process as possible, starting with the feasibility stage. This is considered to allow for a smoother and more successful completion of the project.
