520 _aABSTRACT Urban identity if formed by the entire value and cities features. Urban transformation is the activities and strategies for maintaining environmental and life balance. The urban identity and transformation are recent on the 21st century, are the ground of this study in Baghdad. As a result of globalization the change in socio-cultural and economic conditions are experienced all over the world, making it compulsory to reshape cities, making urban identity more important. The critical question arises in this realization, what are the influence of this transformation on the urban identity in Baghdad after the war in 2003? The impact on the quality of life. The study aims to analyze the transformation of urban identity after the falling of Baghdad war in 2003. It will explore the factors that contributed to the historical formation of urban identity of Baghdad, its transformation post-war. This research aim explored the transformation of urban identity in Baghdad from its earliest era to, after the war in 2003 with focus on its streets and squares. On the physical aspect of the urban identity transformation, the empirical data was obtained being a qualitative research method. The research paper presented here depicted the transformation of Baghdad city from the early development era to the aftermath of the 2003 war. Following the 2003 fighting in Iraq, the city center of Baghdad was transformed into a staging area for military procedures and terrorist attacks. The layout, convenience, and functions of the space is all altered dramatically. Concrete fences prevent access to the core public spaces and separate from city center from the adjacent growth zone. To comprehend this vagary in urban fabric of this city moral instance, to what happened afterward the war was compared with the same space and place previously the 2003 war. The research discovered the spatial facilities syntax and identity of Baghdad through investigative its urban transformation and development at different stages and periods. The urban conversion in Baghdad indicated that the urban traditional form was created on urban space hierarchy escorted with the bounded physical features.
