520 _aABSTRACT Playing violent video games could be fun for and among children but it also has negative implications when they play for long. These negative impacts are sometimes translated into violent behaviours that could be very devastating. The study is divided into four parts and these parts discuss the issue of violent video games on minors in Nigeria. The introductory part discusses the historical developments of video games and the contemporary nature of violent video games. The first chapter discusses various literature related to the restriction of video games and how these restrictions affect the behaviours of these minors. The study outlines the impacts that parents have on censorship and restrictions of how their children play violent video games in Nigeria. The findings of the study suggest that the strictness of rules and restrictions regarding censorship have a positive impacts on the behaviour of minors who play video games. The study also depicts the attitude of parents towards different restriction set on activities connected to violent video games.
