Emphasis of the study is on identifying the different foreign policy tools used by Nigeria compared to ECOWAS and determining the effects and significances of globalization for the nation-state system within ECOWAS. Textbook and internet-based knowledge constructions were employed in the research. The bulk of the necessary details were gleaned via a thorough perusal of relevant books and scholarly articles housed in various library systems. The different foreign policy tools used by Nigeria compared to ECOWAS was examined and it has been revealed that globalization in the economic sector has been related to the development of a truly universal economic system characterized by widespread participation in cross-border economic and macroeconomic transactions. The study further proved that the economic and intellectual underpinnings of Nigeria's foreign policy development are inextricably linked to the country's status as an ex-colony of Great Britain. There are theoretical, economic, and managerial consequences of the study. The researcher recommends that that national authority adequately staff their boundaries to prevent the unchecked flow of individuals, narcotics, and smaller and heavy weaponry across territories, the latter of which inevitably leads to an increase in criminal activity and instability.
