520 | _aABSTRACT Background: In order to stay up with the quick changes in nursing and nursing education, Self-Directed Learning is a necessary skill for effective continuous professional development. Nursing education strives to equip students with the inquiry skills needed for self-directed learning so they may provide current and pertinent healthcare and develop into lifelong learners. However, it is unknown how prepared nursing students who complete the TRNC International Nursing Program are for independent study. Research aim: The aim of our research is to determine self-directed learning readiness levels of International Nursing Program students and to determine whether these levels differ according to independent variables. Method: The study was carried out in cross-sectional descriptive type. Fisher’s Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale for nurses was used to collect data. The study was conducted at Cyprus international University (CIU) School of Health Science International Nursing Department located in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). No sampling method will be used. The participants were first, second, third and fourth year Nursing students in the CIU. The total number number of nursing students that participated in the reasearch are 318 most of them are from African countries. Conclusions: There is no statistically significant difference between the gender, age in terms of their selfdirected learning readiness scale scores and its sub-scales scores. There are statistically significant difference between the academic level/year of students in terms of their self-directed learning readiness scale scores and its sub-scales scores. There is no statistically significant difference between countries in terms of their self-management sub-scale scores. There is a statistically significant difference between countries scores in terms of students self-directed learning readiness scores, desire for learning, self control sub-scale scores. Recommendation: A system should be established for the development and evaluation of students' self-directed learning skills.
