520			_aABSTRACT Horror movie poster design is a form of visual communication that involves the creation and combination of numerous elements such as images, texts, and spaces. In recent years, the creation of the horror movie posters has also shifted in form of evolution in all aspect down to the use of colors. In the Chapter 2, the general background of the movie posters design, color theory and color usage of horror movie posters are examined under the literature review. Especially selected posters of 21st Century are listed according to their color palettes. In the Chapter 3, the main frame is explained and Ari Aster is introduced as a director of the selected movies. This chapter focuses on analysis of Ari Asters three significant horror movie posters (Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau is Afraid) by using the color scheme in communicating the idea of the movie. The color usage in the posters is mainly examined, but the color distribution and compatibility of some scenes selected from the movies were also investigated. The study will be used in comparing the colors present in the 21st century posters to the use of colors in Ari Asters own movie posters. In the Chapter 4, the discussion and conclusion part are given. According to the case studies evaluated int the previous chapter, Ari Aster’s interpretation of the colors are found in the movie posters. 520			_aÖZET Korku filmi afişi tasarımı, görüntüler, metinler ve mekanlar gibi çok sayıda öğenin oluşturulmasını ve birleştirilmesini içeren bir görsel iletişim biçimidir. Son yıllarda korku filmi afişlerinin oluşturulmasında da renk kullanımları daha da önem kazanmaktadır. Tezin İkinci Bölümünde, film afişlerinin tasarımının genel arka planı, renk teorisi ve korku filmi afişlerinin renk kullanımı konuları, literatür taraması altında incelenmiştir. Özellikle 21. Yüzyıla ait seçilmiş posterler renk paletlerine göre sıralanmıştır. Üçüncü Bölümde tezin vaka analiz bölümü için ana çerçeve çizilmiştir ve bu bölümde Ari Aster seçilen filmlerin yönetmeni olarak tanıtılır. Bu bölüm, film fikrini iletmede renk şemasını kullanarak Ari Asterler’in üç önemli korku filmi afişinin (Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau is Afraid) analizine odaklanmaktadır. Afişlerdeki renk kullanımı ağırlıklı olarak incelenmekle birlikte filmlerden seçilen bazı sahnelerin renk dağılımı ve uyumluluğu da ayrıca incelenmiştir. 21. yüzyıl afişlerinde mevcut olan renkler, Ari Aster’in kendi film afişlerindeki renk kullanımıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Dördüncü ve son bölümde tartışma ve sonuç kısmı verilmiştir. Bir önceki bölümde değerlendirilen vaka analizlerine göre, film afişlerinde Ari Aster'in renklere ilişkin kendi tarzına özgü bir yorumu olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
