| 520 | _a'Abstract These is a need to relate students' daily campus life and activities to landscape in which they live because of landscapes tremendous healing and refreshing quality. Successful landscape planning of the outdoor space within university campuses will contribute in creating a less stressful and more restorative environmentfor students which will help to improve their social interation, academics performance, behaviour and will also impact a sense of belonging for student. Such landscape will also contribute to high percentage of student enrollment within a university campus. However, in most universities much attention has been given on buildings neglecting the important of the outdoor landscape environment and forgetting the fact that such landscape is an everyday experience to students. The outdoor landscape spaces in most campuses are not designed according to the user's needs and lack of design consideration for the exterior space hampers the academic, social and cultural activities on the university campus. So also, there is relatively little concern on how the landscape affects university students in most literature publications and this lack of consideration is regrettable, if such issues could be discussed in one way or the other will be helpful for universities and the landscape designers. The fact that landscape involves perpectual change is something for landscape designers to deal wıith because universities need a functional outdoor space for their purpose to be fulfilled effectively. This research study is aim at making analyses how the landscape design of universities affects students. The research is a qualitative one which entails a combination of documentary research and critical method. Data will be collected from literature sources such as books, journals and magazine. Sketches and photographs will be used as tools for recording existing university campus exterior spaces and activities within those spaces. The research study investigate theoretically by providing psychological effects of the landscape giving more insight to nature, outdoor lighting, color application within the environment and visual appearance of physical elements within outdoor spaces. The pedestriain walk, courtyard open spaces and landscape form will be analyzed in respect to inflence on student's outdoor activities. The study is focused only on the outdoor open air spaces on university campuses and suggests how to establish a relationship between the component elements of campus landscape and the outdoor campus environment in term of proper design method which will in turn enhance student's performance and also accomodation student's activities. The university campus is a single unified community of individuals of different experience living, working and studying together to assimilate knowledege, improve skills and develop character. And is basically a place of academic, social, cultural and recreational activities. Such activities are not carried out in the indoors of the campus but also within the outdoor spaces. Landscape design forms a vital part of the outdoor space which makes these spaces within universities campus to look pleasing and balanced by enhancing the appreance of land especially around buildings, open space and also creating conducive atmosphere that energize uplifts, calms, relaxes and stimulates positive effects on students. Knowing how the campus environment affects the inhabitants living within it, helps both the landscape designers and the university at large to better understand their environment and to gain more knowledge on how to improve it. Generally, the research study will serve as a guide for landscape designers for the smooth runing and the effectiveness of the university campus. Architecture and landscape architecture speak to us; this research urges readers to understand this language which speaks to all our senses in creating restorative environments that is aesthetically pleasing. Özet Peyzajın insanlar üzerindeki çok olumlu ve yaşam enerjisi veren etkisi nedeniyle öğrencilerin günlük yaşantıları ve etkinlikleri ile içinde yer aldıkları dış mekanlarla ilişkilerinin güçlendirilmesine ihtiyaç vardır. Üniversite kampuslarında başarılı dış mekan tasarımları öğrencilerin sosyal etkileşimini, akademik performansını artıran, onları daha özemli davranışlara yönelten ve aynı zamanda aidiyet duygularını güçlendiren, daha az stresli ve çalışma şevkini artırıcı bir çevrenin oluşturulması anlamını taşır. Böyle bir peyzajın üniversitenin öğrenciler açısından çekiciliğini artırması ve daha fazla öğrencinin o üniversiteye kaydolmasına katkıda bulunması beklenir. Ancak pek çok üniversitenin çekici ve etkin bir peyzajin öğrencilerin günlük yaşantısı üzerindeki olumlu etkilerini göz ardı ederek, binalara daha çok önem verdiği görülmektedir. Dış mekanlar dikkate alınmadan ve kullanıcı gereksinmelerine uygun olarak tasarlanmayan pek çok kampusta akademik, sosyal ve kültürel etkinliklerin gereğince gerçekleştirilmesinde güçlüklerle karşılaşılmaktadır. Peyzajın üniversite öğrencilerini nasıl etkilediği konusunda ilgili literatürün de nispeten yetersiz olduğunu üzülerek belirtmek gerekir. Eğer bu konu, şu veya bu şekilde derinliğine tartışılabilmiş olunsaydı, üniversiteler ve peyzaj mimarları için yararlı olurdu. Bir peyzaj tasarımcısının peyzajın sürekli değişiklik gösterdiği gerçeğini göz önünde tutması gerekir çünkü üniversiteler zaman içinde değişen amaçlarını etkin bir şekilde gerçekleştirmek için işlevsel dış mekanlara ihtiyaç duyarlar. Bu çalışma peyzaj tasarımının üniversite öğrencileri üzerindeki etkilerini irdelemeyi amaçlamakta ve literatür araştırmalarına, bu araştırmalardan çıkarsamalara dayanan, eleştirel metotla yapılan niteliksel bir araştırma özelliğini taşımaktadır. Veriler kitap, dergi gibi literatür kaynaklarından derlenmiştir. Metin içindeki şekil ve fotoğraflar mevcut Üniversitelerin dış mekanları ve bu mekanlardaki etkinliklerle ilgilidir. Bu araştırma çalışmasında, doğaya ağırlık verilerek, dış mekandaki aydınlatma, renk lullanımı ve fiziksel öğelerin görsel görüntüleri gibi konular, peyzajın psikolojik etkileri çerçevesinde kuramsal olarak incelenecek ve yaya yolları, açık mekanlı avlular ve peyzaj formları öğrencilerin dış mekan aktivitelerine etkisi bağlamında analiz edilecektir. Bu çalışmada sadece üniversite kampuslarındaki dış mekanlara odaklanılacak ve öğrencilerin performansını artıracak ve bunun yanında öğrenci etkinliklerine cevap verecek peyzaj bileşenleri ile kampus dış mekanları ilişkisinin uygun tasarım metotları ile nasıl sağlanacağı konusunda öneriler geliştirilecektir. Üniversite kampusleri, değişik deneyimdeki bireylerin bilgi edinmek, becerilerini geliştirmek, benliklerini yüceltmek için birlikte yaşadıkları, çalıştıkları ve araştırdıkları karma bir topluluktur. Kampuslar temel olarak akademik, toplumsal, kültürel ve rekreatif etkinliklerin bulunulduğu yerlerdir. Bu gibi etkinlikler ise sadece kapalı makanlara değil, fakat aynı zamanda açık mekanlara da ihtiyaç gösterir. Peyzajın tasarım şekli dış mekanın yaşamsal bir parçasıdır. Üniversite kampuslarında bu mekanlar hoş ve zevkli bir görünüm oluşturur ve özellikle binaların çevresindeki arazinin görsel kalitesine katkıda bulunarak dendeli bir ortam sağlarlar; bunun yanında, enerji, yücelme duygusu, huzur, rahatlık veren iletken ve iletişime açık bir atmosfer yaratır ve öğrenciler üzerinde olumlu etkiler uyandırlar. Kampus ortamının içinde yaşayanları etkilediği bilinci, hem peyzaj tasarımcılarını, hem de genel olarak üniversiteleri kendi çevrelerini daha iyi kavramaya ve onun nasıl geliştirilmesi gerektiği ile ilgili bilgileri edinmeye yöneltir. Bu araştırmanın, yeterli bir tasarım çalışması için peyzaj tasarımcılarına ve genel olarak üniversite kampuslarının etkinliklerinin artırılmasına yardımcı olabileceği tahmin edilmektedir. | ||
