ABSTRACT
The exponential growth in the private car usage in Libya is simultaneous to the increase of population in the country. The lack of efficiency in the public transportation system which has giving rise to automobile private ownerships throughout the country and this puts immense pressure on the citizens to own and rely on private car use which is not sustainable for any country geared towards development. The present situation in the operation of public transport within the country relinquishes all the power to the service provide with no definitive and clear way of measuring performance and efficiency, functionality and customer satisfaction. Therefore, the study aims to access the service quality and customer satisfaction of using public transport system in Tripoli, Libya by assessing and evaluating the performance of the existing system and also examining the benefits of development of an executive body of public transport to investigate other modes development for a more structured service, the objectives of the study are also defined in order to have a clear direction. They include identify the key drivers and major contributors to inefficiency in the public transportation within the city and other. This is conducted by carrying out an evaluation on the current state of public transport system. The study commences with an introduction section for the chapter one, a literature review as the second chapter, the methodology section as the third chapter and the fourth chapter contains the discussion of results and analysis, lastly chapter five concludes the study which comprises of the conclusion and recommendations.
