ABSTRACT
This research highlights the relationship that exists between motivation and
employee’s performance and how it impacts the performance of an employee in the
Organization. For the purpose of employee performance samples of respondents are
selected. Motivational factors like salary increment helps to strengthen employees’
performance, resolve problems affecting employees output quickly and effectively,
leads to greater levels of productivity and creativity, improves commitment and
communication, reduces absenteeism and turnover, leads to collaboration,
innovations and new ideas and leads to effective interaction with customers and other
stakeholders. Questions are selected and put in a well-designed questionnaire
consisting of a 4 point rating scale, Factor Analysis is used to reflect crucial factors
that are responsible for the motivation of employees. Findings indicates that
motivation plays a great role in directing employee’s emotion towards performance.
However, data was collected from employees of the same organization and therefore
lack the opportunity to make comparison. A great limitation was the researcher’s
dependency on self-disclose data which lack full study of respondent personality and
characteristics as regards to their performance. It is recommended that managers
should set clear policies, communicate this policies to subordinates as well as reward
employees who maintain the set policy. Managers should provide an anonymous
suggestion box within the organization, this will help subordinate present their
suggestions for company growth with no fear of being sanctioned.
