This study is intended to investigate the influence of market orientation on firm performance as well as the mediating role of innovation in Nigerian micro small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Market orientation (MO) has turned into a focal point of consideration for many scholars for more than 30 years (Kamboj & Rahman, 2017) and the significance of MO in influencing the performance of firms is factual in promoting the literature (Ngai & Ellis, 1998).
Therefore, this study employs a quantitative research design by using normal deductive techniques and approach. Since a primary data is obtained by changing over quantifiable confirmation into numbers, which are also explored to recognize the connection between and among the variable s of study market orientation, firm performance, and innovation by starting with the descriptive statistics of the demographic variables and followed by the validity and reliability test which are conducted using factor loadings and Cronbach alpha respectively..
However, this study shows that micro small, and medium enterprises in Nigeria emphatically perceived their organizations as market-oriented and consider innovation as a significant variable for upgrading the firm performance outcome and element that increases their comparative benefit. The sudy shows that market orientation has a significant influence on firm performance thereby supporting hypothesis one leaving the remaining hypotheses unsupported.
