| Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>Conflict has been identified as an inevitable element of human existence, <br/>organizational conflict inclusive. Conflict management thus becomes a panacea to <br/>curbing the negative effects of conflict, especially in a sensitive place like the banking <br/>sector. This study examined the effect of conflict management styles on organizational <br/>commitment among Cameroonian bank employees. The study aimed to find out the <br/>conflict management styles that can enhance organizational commitment. Participants <br/>in the study were bank employees drawn from 10 different banks in Yaoundé, <br/>Cameroon. Questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. After the <br/>analysis, the outcome of the study revealed the following: accommodating, <br/>cooperative and compromise styles of conflict management all have significant <br/>positive effects on organizational commitment (OC). However, there is no significant <br/>effect between forcing and avoiding styles on OC. Following these findings, it was, <br/>among others, recommended that it is important for management and stakeholders in <br/>banks in Cameroon to ensure that different conflict management styles are <br/>communicated to every employee in their organization through training and retraining. <br/>Suggestions for further studies were also made. <br/>Keywords: Bank, Cameroon, Conflict, Conflict Management Styles, Organizational <br/>Commitment. |
