| Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>The essence of this study was to examine the effect of financial inclusion (FI) on the <br/>profitability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): a case study of <br/>commercial banks in Cameroon. The growing concern of Small and Medium-sized <br/>enterprises (SMEs) is dependent on their profitability. SMEs go out of business <br/>within 5 years of operation and often it is due to a lack or limited finance caused by <br/>non-accessibility and affordability of finance. The research was conducted using <br/>twelve commercial banks in Cameroon. <br/>This research adopted a quantitative research method. It was directed at examining <br/>the influence of financial inclusion (FI) on the profitability of small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs): a case study of commercial banks in Cameroon where out <br/>of 15 commercial banks operating in Cameroon, 12 were chosen by random <br/>sampling for this study which was restructured into panel data. The study contains <br/>secondary data collected from the year 2010 to 2021. The data was majorly collected <br/>from yearly reports of those selected commercial banks in Cameroon.<br/>The study revealed that only one hypothesis (positive effect of the total asset as a <br/>financial inclusion on net income as the profitability of SMEs) out of four developed <br/>(from the number of bank ATMs, number of bank branches, total asset as well as the <br/>net interest margin) during the course of this study was supported. It was discovered <br/>that financial inclusion assumes a significant part in the profitability of SMEs.<br/>Keywords: Financial Inclusion; Net income; Profitability of SMEs; Small and<br/>Medium-sized Enterprises. |
