'ÖZ Bu tezin amacı; halk edebiyatı anlatı türlerinden olan masalın Mardin ilimizdeki örneklerini derlemek, incelemek ve teknolojinin gelişmesi ile birlikte yok olmaya yüz tutmuş sözlü anlatım ürünlerinden biri olan masalların gelecek nesillere aktarılmasına katkı sağlamaktır. Bu amaçla Mardin ilimize ait 23 masal derlenmiştir. Tezimizin giriş bölümünde de birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapan Mardin'in tarihi yapısı hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışma; masalların derlenmesi, yazıya geçirilmesi ve metinlerin bir metoda dayandırılarak incelenmesi şeklinde yapılmıştır. Tezimizde, Prof. Dr. Saim SAKAOĞLU' nun Gümüşhane Masalları'nda belirlediği metot izlenmiş ve Mardin masallarındaki ortak unsurlar sıralanmıştır. Bu bölüm: Temler, Kahramanlar, Mekân, Eşya ve Masalların Formel yapısı ana başlıkları izlenerek verilmiştir. "Masallarda Ortak Temel Unsurlar" başlıklı sistematiğe göre düzenlenen ve içindekiler kısmında görülen bölümler, kendi içinde gerekli alt başlıklara ayrılmıştır. Düzenleme, Sakaoğlu' nun "Masallarda Ortak Temel Unsurlar" başlıklı sistematiğe göre Mardin masalları incelenmiştir. Tezimiz, dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümünde: Masal kavramı, masalın şekil ve muhteva özellikleri, masallar üzerine yapılan çalışmalar hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde: Mardin masallarının tipleri tespit edilerek, Eberhard-Boratav ve Aarne-Thompson kataloglarındaki tip numaraları ile motif sıraları verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde: Prof. Dr. Saim SAKAOĞLU' nun Gümüşhane Masalları'nda belirlediği metot izlenmiş ve Mardin masallarındaki ortak unsurlar sıralanmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde: Derlenen masal metinlerine yer verilmiştir.
