Konu(lar): Özet: 'ABSTRACT Ergonomics study has gotten allot of interest in recent times. Educational advancement has been prompted by the change classroom design and new class equipment such as projector, flexible chairs etc. shaped a new era of education. One of the new and valuable tools used to improve students’ performance is ergonomics design. This study aims at evaluating effect of classroom ergonomics on experienced musculoskeletal discomfort and student academic performance of Cyprus International University (CIU) students with focus on Science and Technology (ST) building. The research utilized an approach that is based on quantitative method in order to answer the research questions. 383 structured questionnaires were administered to CIU students from six different faculties who attends lectures in the ST building. The results reveal that there is positive significant relationship between classroom design and students’ academic performance. This implies that good learning environment can positively affect the performance of students. Additionally, the research reveals that there is positive significant relationship between classroom design and ergonomic discomfort. Furthermore, the results obtained for Student-specific Cornell musculoskeletal show that most of the students experience discomfort on neck, upper back and right shoulder. Conversely, knee right, knee left, finger right and left were the parts that most of the students do not experience pain and discomfort. In addition, this study shows that the classroom design in ST building was done in accordance with ergonomics standard (the seat and classroom are mostly suitable for the students). The classroom assessment shows that the classes are well ventilated with large windows that allow adequate light entering the class. Also, the walls are made of insulated materials that serve as protection against excess temperature. Keywords: Ergonomics, Discomfort, Classroom Design, Performance'
