Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Business Administration Department Özet: ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to examine the influence of total quality management practice (TQMP) on employee performance (EP): the mediating role of psychological meaningfulness (PM) in banking industry. The study examines three different hypotheses. The present study investigated the effect of total quality management practice (TQMP) on employee performance (EP). Also, it examines the effect of psychological meaningfulness (PM) on employee performance (EP), and lastly the mediation of psychological meaningfulness (PM) on the relationship between total quality management practice (TQMP) and employee performance (EP). However, the main approach adopted is a quantitative research method consisting of both survey, descriptive research design, correlation and regression analysis in other to attain the research objective using a questionnaire as the instrument and the questionnaire was distributed electronically to 300 employees both male and female who were working in First bank of Nigeria during the period of the research and only 224 questionnaires were returned which forms 74.7% of the aggregate. Consequently, the result of this research work demonstrates huge positive influence of total quality management practice (TQMP) on employee performance (EP), also positive influence of psychological meaningfulness (PM) on employee performance (EP), and psychological meaningfulness (PM) partially mediate the effect of total quality management practice (TQMP) on employee performance (EP).
