Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Business Administration Department Özet: ABSTRACT Leadership is one of the primary factors of organizational innovation and plays a significant role in influencing the degree of support committed to innovation in a company. This research aims to investigate the impact of leadership style on the organizational innovation of commercials banks in Nigeria. Quantitative data is the primary focus of the study, collected from managers in five commercial banks in Nigeria. This study was undertaken to investigate the hypothesized links between OI and leadership style which includes transformational, transactional, participative and Laissez-faire leadership using Statistics Program for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and the Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS) mathematical software to analyze the data. Through the data of 205 managers, findings in this study showed that transformational and transactional leadership styles is positively related to organizational innovation. Also, indicating that participative and Laissez-faire leadership styles of managers has no significant or positive impact on organizational innovation in the banking industry. The findings in this study showed that quality, productive and innovation performance in the Nigerian banking industry may be attained through transformative and transactional leadership orientations which inspires employee creativity and dedication to organizational innovation. ABSTRACT
