ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to examine the influence of organizational climate and
organizational citizenship behavior on emotional intelligence in private hospitals. The
term organizational climate can be described as an agreement regarding the behaviors
of its employees. It includes efforts to achieve efficiency, a zero-defect result, a focus
on the result, and employee interest, as well as creativity and accuracy in the
performance of employees' responsibilities. Meanwhile, organizational citizenship
behavior is described as the way people interact within the organization. And Davis,
et al., (2020) viewed emotions as an intense disturbance of an individual. Another
modern scholar also defines emotions as a response that is not organized resulting from
a non-effective adjustment of an individual, this means emotions is seen as a cause for
complete loss of brain actions. Therefore, all these three variables were examined.
However, two hypotheses were developed in order to determine how organizational
climate (OC) and Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) affected emotional
intelligence (EI) in private hospitals in Cameroon.
The study revealed that only one of the hypotheses which is hypothesis one (H1):
“There is a positive impact of organizational climate on emotional intelligence”: “was
rejected while only hypothesis two (H2): ‘There is a positive impact of organizational
citizenship behavior on emotional intelligence.” Was accepted.
