ABSTRACT
This study investigated the effect of organizational culture on employee performance
using work motivation as a mediator in NASSIT-a leading national social security and
insurance organization in Sierra Leone. The study utilized a survey research method
and gathered the information and data to investigate the impact of organizational
culture and motivation on employee performance. The survey covered a sample of 250
employees of NASSIT to whom the questionnaire instrument was administered for 5
days before the collection of the completed questionnaires from the respondents. The
data was analyzed using an SPSS version 21 package. The study discovered that, there
has been an existence of organizational culture and motivational dimensions in
NASSIT and that these dimensions have a positive impact on employee performance
on the individual as well as on a collective basis as underscored by the responses of
the respondents and the regression results. This study made several recommendations
amongst which include: that managers of organizations should provide their
employees with adequate organizational culture and work motivation packages to
achieve improved employee performance and by extension organizational
performance. The study further recommends that future research in the subject matter
or other related studies may use this study as a reference material in assessing in
particular the effects of organizational culture through motivation on employee
performance by using other organizations in various economic sectors, enlarging the
sample size and using different research methods.
